Playtech has entered into a structured long-term agreement with Aquila Global Group SAS, the Colombian Wplay gaming and gaming operator.
Under the agreement signed with Aquila Global Group SAS, Playtech will act as Wplay’s strategic technology partner, providing its omni-channel products along with operational and marketing services for the brand’s online and retail operations. “Latin America remains a key market for us and with this agreement with Wplay we have added another important strategic partner in the region,” commented Playtech CEO Mor Weizer.
Playtech will migrate all Wplay retail and online activities to its IMS player management platform. Playtech will also exclusively drive all software in Wplay’s regulated industries, including its sports and casino offering, with the addition of third party games through Playtech’s open platform.
Wplay was the first brand to obtain a license to operate in Colombia’s regulated igaming market in June 2017.
Wplay President Julio César Tamayo added: “In addition to strengthening Wplay’s leadership in Colombia, this agreement will provide the technology and expertise needed to take the Colombian market to the next level.”
“Playtech has the history and scale needed to provide responsible industry software, marketing and gaming tools for Colombia’s number one brand,” Tamayo added.
In the meantime, Playtech will provide Wplay CRM and marketing expertise and people, as well as make structured investments to provide platform technology, software and marketing expertise. This agreement will cause Playtech to receive a portion of its profits and revenue in accordance with its regular business model.
