Founded in 2015 in Chile by entrepreneurs Matias Muchnick, Karim Pichara and Pablo Zamora, NotCo uses artificial intelligence to create foods based on plant molecules. The company has been successful with investors. It has received funding from Kaszek Ventures, the founders of Mercado Livre, and Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and the richest person on the planet, who put $ 30 million into the project. Startup CEO Muchnick says he has the ambition to make NotCo the “Nestlé of the new generation.”
After a major 2019 to take the first step toward making NotCo a globally relevant company, ”the startup wants to expand by 2020, says Matias Muchnick. “Our company will be much more present in people’s lives, be it in products or marketing actions”, he says. In the near future, the company hopes to develop fish and chicken proteins from plants. “NotCo wants to be a company that operates as a multinational, but makes quick decisions as a startup,” he says.
